Connection keeps dropping
If Zenput Labels is not staying connected to your printer, follow these steps:
| 1 | Uninstall and reinstall the Zenput Labels app to ensure you have the most up-to-date version |
| 2 | Ensure only one device is connected to the printer's BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) |
| 3 | Restart the device running Zenput Labels |
| 4 | From Zenput Labels, click on 'Settings' and then on the bottom right-hand side click on 'Serial Printer' |
Printer stops printing
If your printer suddenly stops printing, try these solutions in order:
| 1 | Power cycle: Switch the printer off and back on |
| 2 | Reset to factory defaults: Hold down the single round button on the front panel. The indicator light will start a flash sequence (1, 1-2, 1-2-3, etc.). When it flashes 4 times, release the button |
| 3 | Label width calibration: Hold down the button until the light flashes 5 times, then release. The printer will print a series of widths, getting wider each time. When the printed width matches your label width, press the button once to lock it in |
| 4 | Run all calibrations: Hold down the single round button until it flashes twice, then release. This will run and print an automatic set of calibrations |
Misaligned printing / blank labels
If your printer is printing many blank labels or the printing seems misaligned, the yellow plastic alignment head likely needs adjustment.
How to adjust alignment via Zenput Labels:
- Go to the Settings page in the Zenput Labels app
- Press on Calibration and follow the on-screen instructions to manually align the printer
- If the printer prints 4-6 stickers at a time and then is off-center, check that the printer alignment control is correctly positioned
- Once adjusted, perform a smart calibration. View smart calibration guide
- Force quit and reopen the Zenput Labels app
|
Proper alignment head position: The yellow alignment control needs to be adjusted as shown in the image. This ensures labels feed correctly and printing is centered on each label. |
Labels printing light or illegible
If your labels are printing too light to read clearly, adjust the darkness settings:
Method 1: Hardware darkness switch
| On the back of the printer, you'll find a switch that controls print darkness. The left setting is lightest and the right setting is darkest. Try adjusting this switch to get the desired print darkness. |
Method 2: Manual darkness calibration
If adjusting the hardware switch doesn't work, perform a manual darkness calibration:
| 1 | Press and hold the "pause" button until all lights flash yellow, then release |
| 2 | The "status" (diamond in a square) light should turn yellow |
| 3 | Press the "feed" (middle) button twice |
| 4 | The "data" (folder with an arrow) light should be lit. If not, keep pressing "feed" until it lights up |
| 5 | Press "pause" |
| 6 | The printer will start printing labels slowly, one at a time, with increasing darkness levels |
| 7 | Once it prints a label with acceptable darkness (8.0 or 12.0 typically works well), press the "feed" button to save that setting |
Labels printing completely blank
If your labels are printing completely blank with no text or markings, this is typically caused by incorrect printer settings or label type:
Common fixes:
- Ensure the printer is set up for Direct Thermal printing mode
- Verify you are using the correct label type compatible with your printer
- Check that labels are loaded correctly with the print side facing the print head
Printing ingredient names only
|
If your labels are only printing ingredient names without other information, you have likely selected the incorrect label size in the Labels app. To fix this:

Troubleshooting on Android devices
Android devices require specific Bluetooth scanning settings to work properly with Zenput Labels:
| 1 | Verify Bluetooth Scanning Settings: Exit the app, access your device settings, and search for "Bluetooth Scanning" |
| 2 | Toggle Bluetooth Scanning: Turn Bluetooth Scanning off and then back on, then restart your tablet |
| 3 | Reopen Zenput Labels: Launch the app, navigate to Settings, and tap the Refresh button |
| 4 | Confirm printer connection: Verify the serial number displayed in the app matches the serial number on the bottom of the printer, then select the printer |
| 5 | Test connectivity: Attempt to print labels to confirm the issue is resolved |
