Location Product records can only be deactivated. There is no way to delete or permanently remove a Location Product in Enterprise Manager and Net-Chef.
This article provides information about Location Product deactivation and troubleshooting steps for when a product does not deactivate. You can learn more about Location Products in Enterprise Manager WebHelp and there is another article with instructions on how to deactivate a Company Product.
When does a Location Product deactivation occur?
Posting inventory is the action needed to deactivate the Location Product. The Location Product will become inactive after the following conditions are met.
- The product is not purchased, issued, or transferred for the number of post cycles set in your preferences
- The on-hand quantity reaches zero and stays at zero
- There are no transactions at the location that include the product, such as Vendor Orders, Transfers, and Commissary Orders
- The number of periods, set in your preferences, have been posted
How to change when a Location Product will deactivate
The number of post periods before deactivation is set at the Corporate level on the Enterprise Manager Preferences screen with the "Deactivate Products after Post Cycles" setting.
How do deactivated products appear in Net-Chef?
Deactivating storage sequence records in the Net-Chef Inventory Setup by unchecking Include on Count Sheet will remove the record from the Data Entry Screen, but the record should still appear on the Inventory View/Review Screens. Only after the Locations Product record is deactivated will it be removed from the View and Review Screens.
Why was a Location Product not deactivated?
If you expected a Location Product to be deactivated and it is still active, check the following.
- The product has zero inventory in all storage locations.
- The product has not been purchased. You can stop the reordering of Company Products by deactivating them. This will prevent locations from ordering from vendors.
- The product has not been issued. Uncheck Re-order CO to stop Customer and Commissary Orders.
- The product has not been transferred. A system-generated storage transfer will reset the timer for product deactivation.
- The chosen number of post cycles have passed. All of the previous conditions must be true for the entire number of post cycles. If any of those actions happen, the timer resets.
