NEW: Fair Workweek Consent

Teamworx now lets employees approve or decline last-minute schedule changes that fall under Fair Workweek rules. When a manager adds a shift or makes changes to a shift that fall outside its original hours, the employee is notified. They can then approve or decline the changes from My Schedule on Teamworx web or mobile app. Every response is recorded in the new Schedule Consent Audit report in Net-Chef.
 
Until now, Teamworx employees couldn't decline shifts that violate advance notice requirements, and operators had no way to track consent. Now operators can stay compliant, keep managers and employees in the loop, and show they're audit-ready.
 
Common Questions:

  1. Which schedule changes can an employee decline?

    • Yes: a new shift added on short notice, and a shift modified to fall outside its original hours (The shift has been changed from 08:00 AM–03:00 PM to 08:00 AM–05:00 PM).

    • No: a shift modified within its original hours (The shift has been changed from 08:00 AM–03:00 PM to 08:00 AM–01:00 PM), a station change, a shift deleted on short notice, or a few hours removed from a shift. Employers have the right to cut shifts or hours for business purposes.

  2. How do I turn it on?

    • An admin checks 'Employee Approval Required' in the city Labor Rules in Enterprise Manager. It’s supported for Schedule Change rules and Clopening rules.

  3. How does the employee get notified and respond?

    • The employee is notified by email, app notification, or SMS if applicable, based on their preference. They then approve or decline from My Schedule in Teamworx on web or mobile.

  4. How does the manager know what happened?

    • Pending shifts show on the Labor Schedule and Daily Roster until the employee responds, with the original and proposed times shown together. If the employee declines, the manager is notified. If the employee approves, no notification is sent.

NEW: Separate Holiday OT on Payroll Export

Currently, Daily, Weekly, and Holiday OT are all aggregated into a single "Overtime" bucket when exported, making it impossible to distinguish mandatory holiday premiums from avoidable overtime on regular shifts. We're isolating Holiday OT into its own distinct columns on the payroll export so GMs can easily spot and investigate unauthorized Daily/Weekly OT, driving better labor cost control. This also gives Payroll Administrators cleanly separated statutory holiday data to map to specific earning codes in third-party processors (e.g., ADP, Ceridian) for compliance.

NEW: Net-Chef Attendance Report

The new Attendance Report gives managers a single view of where actual punches deviate from the schedule, including call-outs, unscheduled shifts, and early clock-ins or late clock-outs.  This replaces manual shift-by-shift comparisons and makes labor variances visible at a glance. We offer a configurable threshold (default 5 minutes), so the report reflects what actually matters at each location rather than flagging every minor variance.
 
 
How this report can benefit your team:

  1. See labor variances instantly, at any level. No more line-by-line comparison of schedules against punches. Store managers, district managers, and VPs each get an aggregated view scoped to what they oversee, with dollar impact attached.

  2. A threshold that fits how you actually operate. A configurable variance window means the report surfaces real coaching opportunities, not noise from routine minor variances.

  3. Turns variances into a clear coaching and scheduling signal. Twelve minutes here and twenty there don't look like much on a single shift, but rolled up across a crew, multiple locations, and several weeks, they add up. This report makes that pattern visible so managers can address it, whether that means enforcing punch windows or fixing a schedule that's consistently understaffed.

NEW: AI Forecasting – Local Events

We just released Local Events for AI Forecasting, which lets operators and above-store leaders feed local events like concerts, games, and festivals directly into their forecast. This will bring a more localized forecast for all locations. Local events are part of what actually drives traffic, and adding them in makes the forecast specific to each store, not a one-size-fits-all national model. The more events added, the sharper the forecast gets for that location, making AI Forecasting even more accurate 
 
The result: A forecast that's tailored to each store's real demand drivers, fewer surprises on days that may have looked "off," and less time spent second-guessing the numbers.
 
You can find Local Events on the main Sales Forecasting Screen in Net-Chef, as shown below:
 
Common Questions:

  • Will adding local events improve accuracy right away, or does it take time?
    Both. Any event you add can improve the forecast for that specific date going forward. But the real value builds over time: the more local context you add across your locations, the more tailored and accurate your forecast becomes overall.

  • Who can add or manage local events?
    This is managed at the Location level by users who have access to the Sales Forecasting screen. There are no new User Group Permissions for this feature.

Enhancement: Automated Labor Rules 

Automated Labor Rules are now available! This lets users update labor law changes directly from the Labor Compliance Report. While the report already flags every labor rule field that is out of date against the gold-standard rule set, users can now see those flags and apply those changes in bulk, all directly in the Report. This keeps every Location's labor rule configuration tied to the current gold-standard rule set and reduces the time spent manually managing labor rules across multiple jurisdictions. 
 
How it works:

  • Open the Labor Compliance Report, which already flags any labor rule field that's out of date

  • Instead of updating each flagged field manually, you can select the updates to apply.

  • Apply the selected updates in bulk while Crunchtime supplies the correct values across all affected jurisdictions/locations at once.

  • Admins can still configure it manually if a custom setup is needed.

Flexible Ideal Hours lets managers with highly cross-trained staff create Staffing Level Templates based on total staff, rather than by position. This means faster template setup, no wasted time forcing a flexible crew into positions that don't reflect reality, and staffing levels that match how the team actually works.
 
How it works:

  • The system generates a single Flexible Ideal Hours value that reflects combined demand across the entire staff pool, rather than separate figures per role.

  • That value flows through to TWX Scheduling the same way Ideal Hours do today.

Enhancement: Time Clock Audit - Manager Approval

In the Time Clock Module, managers can approve clock-ins that fall outside grace periods or at the end of unpaid breaks, but there was no centralized audit trail to track which manager authorized the deviation. This new functionality will allow tracking, in one place, of all dates when manager approval was required to start work through the Time Clock module, and will help ensure better labor compliance.

We now support Dark Mode in the Teamworx mobile app! In My Profile settings, under 'Theme', users can now choose from:
  • System (automatically matches their phone's native settings)
  • Light
  • Dark
Note: If a user manually selects "Light" or "Dark", it will override their phone's global "System" settings.

Enhancement: Staffing Level Template Ranges

You can now insert new demand ranges between existing ranges in Staffing Level Templates– giving SLT Admins more flexibility and control to refine configurations without starting from scratch.

Key features:
  • Insert between existing ranges: Add a new demand range anywhere in the sequence, not just at the end
  • Automatic re-sequencing: Adjacent range bounds auto-adjust (or prompt for adjustment) to prevent gaps or overlaps
  • Full template coverage: Available across Demand Template in EMW and Demand Template in NC, for both new and existing templates
  • Conflict validation: The system blocks saving if a new range creates a mathematical conflict (e.g., Min > Max)

Enhancement: New Recommended Actions

We have added four new metrics to our Recommended Actions feature, giving managers more proactive, targeted insights to cut through the noise and drive better operations. 

  • Significant Price Changes - Surfaces unexpected price shifts.
  • Employee Availability - Identifies employees who haven't been on the schedule recently. 
  • Frequent Shift Swaps - Flags employees who are frequently declining shifts or requesting swaps.
  • Labor Hours Variance - Compares scheduled vs. earned hours to keep labor on track

We have also improve the setup screen, making it more intuitive and allowing for further customization of which insights are visible. Recommended Actions can be configured from Preferences > Recommended Actions screen in Enterprise Manager.

NEW: School Calendars for Minors

Our New School Calendars functionality allows the system to determine when each Minor employee is on a school break, thereby making them eligible to work more frequently and for longer shifts. This allows greater flexibility in scheduling Minor Employees in Teamworx during school breaks and helps ensure compliance with Labor Laws regarding working hours.

Note: In order for the new ‘School Districts’ Tab to be visible in Labor Rules, ensure the User Group permission for the School Districts is enabled (School Districts - Edit). Once enabled in Enterprise Manager, School Districts can be created!

NEW: Staffing Template Assistant 

We are also excited to announce our new Staffing Template Assistant, a guided, step-by-step wizard that takes the stress out of template creation! While Staffing Level Templates are the foundation for a perfect shift, setting them up can be time-consuming and often confusing for new users. The Assistant simplifies initial template creation with a guided workflow, helping managers avoid manual guesswork and complicated configurations.
 

Pro-Tips for Using the Assistant

  • Focused Workflow: The Wizard is designed for speed and simplicity, focusing exclusively on the Net Sales - Business Hours schedule driver.

  • Need More Complexity? To maintain a streamlined experience, Daypart and Revenue Center settings are not included in the Wizard. If your location requires these specific configurations, please exit the Wizard and use the Manual Staffing Level Template Editor.

  • No Wrong Choices: Not sure which setting to pick in Wizard? Don’t worry! You can always go back and manually adjust any field on the main Staffing Level Template screen after the Wizard is finished.

  • The Final Check: Once you finish the Wizard, don't forget to click 'Preview Labor Efficiency' to validate that your new template aligns with your productivity goals.

An enhancement to our existing Attestation Clause functionality, this allows employees to submit feedback in a survey-style questionnaire at the beginning of their shift. Management can create customized questions and answers, with the option to prescribe positive, negative, and neutral values to the answers.

This functionality is available only to customers who use the Teamworx Time Clock.

NEW: Teamworx Single Sign-On

We have released an optional Single Sign-On (SSO) feature that allows our customers to authenticate Teamworx Users using their own corporate identity providers. This applies to both Employees (Employee Portal) and Managers (Manager Console). Single Sign-On reduces login troubles for staff, gives managers quicker access to schedules and approvals, and provides IT administrators with centralized access control and security. This can be used with most standard-compliant IdPs like Okta, Azure AD/Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, OneLogin, and Ping.

Important Note: This feature has an additional cost per Location. Please reach out to Customer Success to learn how you can get started with Teamworx SSO!

 

Enhancement: Staffing Level Templates

In EMW & NC, we made the following enhancements to Staffing Level Templates:

  • Demand templates:
    •  The "+" icon is now an "Add Position" button.
    •  We also renamed the "Net Sales" Schedule Driver to "Net Sales - Business Hours" and set it as the default driver.
  •  The pop-up alert for edits made to SLTs now begins with the following statement: "Please be aware that changes made to Staffing Level Templates are not automatically reflected on Ideal and Earned Hours on existing schedules."

Enhancement: Schedule Change Premium

In NC, we made the following enhancements to the Schedule Change Premium Alert:

  •  Columns can now be sorted in ascending (ASC) and descending (DESC) order.
  •  We added a Filter icon; the list of alerts can now be filtered by the following columns:
    •  Employee Number, Employee Name, Position, Rule Type, Memo, Emp Waiver, Date, Scheduled Total Hours, Actual Total Hours, Total Hours Variance, Hours Calc, Hours Adj, Prem Calc, Prem Adj

NEW: Learning Center

The Learning Center is a new in-app training hub in Net-Chef and Enterprise Manager, allowing users to watch the most relevant and up-to-date courses right from Crunchtime.

This feature is automatically enabled for all customers who are not currently hosting these courses on their own Learning Management System (LMS).

NEW: Break Logic Based on Consecutive Hours
 

To support diverse labor compliance needs, the system now offers a choice for Paid Break Logic between Total Hours Worked and Consecutive Hours Worked. This change will ensure accurate break calculations for shifts that are interrupted by unpaid periods. Allowing users to create compliant schedules without needing to manually calculate "consecutive" vs. "total" hours for employees. 

Enabling the Feature: To activate the new functionality, users must select "Consecutive Hours" within the preferences located at: EMW > Labor > Labor Rules > State/Province > Details.

 

NOTE: If the 'Consecutive Hours' rule is enabled for at least one day within a Labor Week, the system will apply that rule to the entire Labor Week.

We have update the AI Sales Forecast logic to make it's predictions even more accurate. Previously the AI Forecast would generate predictions 30 days forward from a location's most recent post date. We have added a new feature to Auto-Schedule Shifts that allows Teamworx to create new shifts and staff them for you! We'll take your sales forecast, staffing level templates, and employee availability to build a complete schedule in seconds. 


 

This feature is enabled from each Location's Labor tab in Enterprise Manager. To turn on this feature, check the Auto-Generate box, and define the Minimum and Maximum Shift Length.

Enhancement: Time Clock Automatically Enforces Labor Rules

The Teamworx Time Clock (both the web kiosk and mobile app) now automatically enforces local labor rules for meal period breaks based on the team member’s work location. For example, if a 30-minute break is required, the system will prevent team members from clocking back in early unless approved by manager.

Enhancement: Export Employee Information in CDP Format 

On the Employee Maintenance screen, we added a 'CDP' option to the Export (Print) pop-up to export the product details displayed on screen in the 036 text file format. If the exported data exceeds 10mb, a zip file containing multiple text files will be generated.

NEW: Teamworx Hides Pay-Related Metrics 

To make pay information more secure in Teamworx, we are restricting access to labor metrics that could be used to infer someone else's pay. If your current configuration hides managers or employee pay information from select users, they will no longer be able to see the following pay-related metrics: 

  • Average Wages
  • Labor Cost %
  • Schedule Change Premiums
  • Overtime Values
  • Total Values

In order for users to see these metrics, users must be given access to view managers and pay information from Enterprise Manager. Here's how: 

 

Teamworx Managers: 

To allow Teamworx Managers to view pay-related metrics, check the Employee Pay Information Visible box from the Teamworx Corporate Controls menu in Enterprise Manager. 



 

Application Users:

To allow Application Users (ex: super user, regional managers) to view wages, the "NC–Emp. Maint. Summary Screen > Display Managers in Net-Chef / View Rates and All Wages in Teamworx" user group control must be enabled. 

Note: We renamed the "NC–Emp. Maint. Summary Screen > Display Managers" user group permission to "NC–Emp. Maint. Summary Screen > Display Managers in Net-Chef / View Rates and All Wages in Teamworx" to reflect permission's updated functionality.

Coming Soon: Starting June 4th, we'll be making pay information in Teamworx more secure. If your current configuration hides wage information from select users, these employees will no longer be able to see related labor metrics that could be used to infer someone else's pay. 

 

Enhancement: New Fields to Time Clock Enhanced Service API

We have added fields for the following data to the GET endpoints for the Time Clock Enhanced Service API, making it easier to retrieve key information to pay employees in a timely manner:

  • Meal Period Premiums - Hours, Rate, & Value
  • Min Paid Shift Premiums - Hours, Rate, & Value
  • Paid Break Premiums - Hours, Rate, & Value
  • Reporting Pay Premiums - Hours, Rate, & Value
  • Split Shift Premiums - Hours, Rate, & Value
  • Spread of Hours Premiums - Hours, Rate, & Value
  • Tip Credits - Value

The added fields mirror those that can be included in the mappable Payroll export.

NEW: Guests Per Labor Hours Dashboard Metrics

We have added four new Key Performance Indicators for Guests Per Labor Hour (GPLH) on the Performance Metrics and Today's Operating Metrics widgets:

  • Actual GPLH = Actual Guests ÷ Actual Hours
  • Scheduled GPLH = Forecasted Guests ÷ Scheduled Hours
  • Variance GPLH = Actual GPLH - Scheduled GPLH
  • Cumulative Variance GPLH (Today's Operating Metrics only) = Sum of "Variance GPLH" column

We have also renamed “Guests/BOH Hours” and “Guests/FOH Hours” to “GPLH BOH” and “GPLH FOH”, respectively.

Employees can now automatically sync their Teamworx schedule with their personal digital calendars on their iOS or Android device! This makes it even easier for employees to see when they're scheduled to work, without needing to manage multiple different apps.

Teamworx now breaks down Sales Forecasts using Guests Per Labor Hours (GPLH). This give managers a new productivity metric that is less prone to variability. 

 

Enhancement: Limit POS ID Edit Access 

We have added a new user group control that restrict the ability to edit an Employee POS ID, but still allows other edits/adds to the Employee Locations tab in Employee Maintenance.

New permission: NC-Emp. Maint. > Employee Location Tab - POS ID Edit 

 

Note: This new user group permission is automatically enabled for all user groups with the "NC-Emp. Maint. Summary Screen > Edit Employees" control enabled.

Enhancement: AI Forecasting Incorporates Weather Forecasts

Our AI forecasting now utilizes weather data as a key input for predicting customer demand for restaurants. Whether the local weather forecast calls for rain, snow, or sunshine, Crunchtime’s AI algorithm will now take this information into account, ultimately producing a more accurate forecast of customer demand.

Enhancement: Sales Forecast Excludes Scheduled Closed Dates

The Sales Forecast will now check for Scheduled Closed dates in Enterprise Manager and automatically set the corresponding day's forecasted sales to '0', allowing managers to more accurately anticipate their needs for unusual weeks. If needed, these forecasts can be manually updated!

Enhancement: Alt Locations Enabled by Default

Now when a new Position is added to an Employee's profile, the Alt Locations box will automatically be checked, making it easier to schedule employees at multiple locations for the roles they are trained to complete. 

 

Enhancement: Daily Lump Sum

The Labor Details screen now provides the option to add Lump Sum Supplemental Wages on the specific date it was earned, instead of the last day of the labor week. This makes it easier for restaurant teams to manage these additional wages, such as secret shopper bonuses, gas reimbursements, and other additional payment amounts owed to employees. 

 

 

To start using this new feature, navigate to the Supplemental Wages screen in Enterprise Manager, and check the Daily Lump Sum box for any desired wage. 

 

Once enabled, you will also have the ability to import daily wages with the 274 Supplemental Wage import file. For more information, check out the Standard Interface Guide:

NEW: API Test Endpoint Validation

New validation has been added to prevent accidental updates to your production environment when testing endpoints. If an API request is sent to a testing endpoint (e.g., containing “-test” in the URL), the system will verify that the associated site name also includes “-test.” If there’s a mismatch, the request will be blocked, and an error will be returned. 

Alert: This validation will impact test sites that do not include "-test" in the endpoint URL. 


The inverse of this logic also applies. If an API request is sent to a production environment, the system will verify that the associated site name does not include "-test".

NEW: Unpaid Break Flexibility

Unpaid Breaks can now be scheduled whether or not they are required by labor rules. Previously, unpaid breaks could only be assigned to a shift when required by the Meal Period labor rules in each State/Province. Now, there is no limitation to how many unpaid breaks an employee can be scheduled to receive. This allows for managers to have more flexibility when creating schedules.

Daily Hours Calculation

With this enhancement, the calculation for Daily Hours has also been updated:

Daily Hours = Total Scheduled Shift Hours - Required Unpaid Breaks - Additional Unpaid Breaks

Example

In the example below, one 30-minute unpaid break is required for shifts greater than 8 hours, as determined by the Meal Period labor rule.


When scheduling a shift in Teamworx, we'll see that the first 30 minute unpaid break does not decrease the employee's Daily Hours. Since this break is required by the labor rule it has already been accounted for in the Daily Hours calculation. When an additional unpaid break is added, the Daily Hours is adjust down as well.

 

Enhancement: Consolidated Employee Maintenance

The Employee Maintenance screen now has a consolidated view, allowing users to view and edit employees at all locations they are linked to, regardless of what location they're currently signed into! To access this feature, users will need the NC-Emp. Maint. Summary Screen > Consolidated Employee - All Locations permission enabled. 

Note: When the Consolidated Employee Maintenance view is enabled, employees from alternate locations will not be indicated with an asterisk (*) before their Employee Number. If you would like to see a consolidated list of employees that are eligible to work at the current location, we recommend using the Employee List in Teamworx.

NEW: Shift Feedback

The new Shift Feedback (aka Attestation Clause) feature allows employees to submit feedback in a survey-style questionnaire at the end of their shift. These questions and answers can be customized, with the option to prescribe positive, negative, and neutral values to the answers. 

 

Note: Employees can currently complete any assigned feedback from their My Shifts Worked screen in Teamworx web. 

 

Managers will be able to review the responses from the new Attestation Clauses Report in Net-Chef!

NEW: Sales Forecasting APIs

We added new Sales Forecasting APIs that allow users to import and export forecast data, making it easier to create detailed and accurate forecasts in Net-Chef. Data can be imported and extracted based on three different time increments:

  • 15-Minute Sales by Revenue Center
  • Hourly Sales by Revenue Center
  • Daily Sales

Note: Unlike other API connections, the formatting of this integration differs from the Sales Forecasting (268) CDP import.

Enhancement: Clopening Labor Rules

We've updated the Clopening labor rules to allow for more options when determining premium pay:

  • Multiplier: Rest period - Calculates the clopening premium pay by applying the multiplier to the regular wages for the number of rest hours lost in the period between the closing and opening shifts.
  • Multiplier: Entire shift (new) - Calculates the clopening premium pay by applying the multiplier to the regular wages for the entire "next day" shift.

Enhancement: "Not Reviewed" Tip Pool Indicator

The Labor Detail screen has been enhanced to display an exclamation point ( ! ) on the Tip Pool tab when there are unreviewed tip records. This will appear when the manager edits the screen AFTER Labor Actuals have been reviewed & saved, to remind the them they still have to review the tip data. When hovering over the !, a bubble tip will appear showing "Not Reviewed".

Enhancement: Auto-Forecasted Column

We added an "Auto-Forecasted" column (hidden by default) to the Manage Sales Forecasts summary screen to indicate whether the forecast for each week was auto-generated ('Y') or entered manually ('N'). This gives managers additional insight into the source of their forecasts. 

Tip: Knowing whether Sales Forecasts were auto-generated or manually entered is important because these forecasts directly impact Suggested Order, Suggested Prep, and Ideal Hours.

With this update, you can easily populate the Total Pooled Tips in Net-Chef with whichever integration works best for your operation - CDP, Connex, or API.

  • Charged Tips (Detail, Type 1, Field 8) are now included on the 267 Menu Mix import file, which will populate the Total Pooled Tips field on the Tip Pool tab in the Labor Details screen in Net-Chef.
  • Charged Tips are also included on the new Check Menu Mix API.

If your location collects a pool of tips (ex: a tip jar), you’ll want to ensure that each tipped employee gets their fair share. You can put your calculator away because Crunchtime has you covered.
