Starting in 2026, parts of Canada are no longer observing Daylight Savings Time (DST). This time zone change will affect some Crunchtime Inventory locations in Canada.
This article provide an explanation of how Crunchtime time zones work, instructions on how to change your time zone, and answers to other common questions.
How to change time zones for Canadian locations
Enterprise Manager has two different types of time zones.
- Time zones that start with UTC, like (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US and Canada), automatically adjust their Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) offsets when DST begins and ends.
- Time zones that start with CT, like (CT -08:00) or (CT +00:00), are static, fixed GMT offsets that do not observe DST and will never adjust automatically.
You can change the time zone for a location in the Corporate Menu in Enterprise Manager. Visit the Enterprise Manager WebHelp page for instructions on changing the time zone.
Time zone changes with a Crunchtime POS integration
If you have a Crunchtime POS integration and change your time zone, contact Crunchtime Support so our Integrations team can review your integrations settings and make adjustments.
If you manage your own POS integration you should review it’s time zone settings and make updates as needed to keep time zones aligned between your POS and Enterprise Manager
Common questions about the Canadian time zone changes
Find answers to common questions in the sections below.
Is Crunchtime adding new time zones for Canadian Provinces?
Crunchtime is adding new time zones for the Provinces that do not observe DST, however, they will not be available before DST ends. Because of this, we are advising Canadian locations to switch to a static time zone that starts with 'CT-'.
What will happen if I don’t change my time zone?
If time zones are not properly configured when a jurisdiction diverges from standard DST rules, stores will shift offsets incorrectly (falling back to UTC-08:00 instead of remaining on UTC-07:00). This can cause issues with hourly metrics, sales forecasts, ideal hours, and recommended order quantities.
What will happen if the time zones in Enterprise Manager and my POS don’t match?
Manually updating time zones in Enterprise Manager without coordinating with POS systems and integration middleware (such as Connex) can cause data mismatches, resulting in time punch import errors, missing or delayed intraday labor actuals, and misaligned sales metrics.
